WHY WE CURATED IT:
In 1988, Omega extended their Speedmaster Professional line (or "Moonwatch" for its role in NASA’s Apollo missions) with a smaller, more comfort-oriented version and an automatic movement for daily convenience. This was the Speedmaster Automatic (nicknamed “Speedy Reduced”). More compact (42 to 39mm), and thinner despite being an auto. The result is utterly sublime on the wrist, especially when it’s in this bimetal configuration (steel + 18K yellow gold), black dial (patinated to a dark grey in this case) and on the excellent original bracelet. The Reduced doesn’t get enough love in our opinion. Most fixate on the Moonwatch past, overlooking what we think is the best Speedmaster on this planet. In stunning almost untouched condition, recently serviced (Sep 2025), with box and papers.
CONDITION:
9.5/10, super sharp lines, bevels and edges. Original Omega-signed crown and crystal (some faint marks on the latter but hardly noticeable). Dial is pristine, intact tritium lume plots with beautiful creamy patina. Hands are clean. All lume plots respond to UV correctly for age. Original bracelet has light marks but almost no stretch. Movement last serviced Sep 2025 and in excellent health with over-spec power reserve, high amplitude, negligible beat error, and accurate to ±15 secs/day averaged from 6 timegrapher positions.
