WHY WE CURATED IT:
The most prolific and important movement maker of all time; hailed as “The Watchmakers’ Watchmaker”. For over a century, JLC made movements for the likes of Audemars Piguet, Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin, Cartier and IWC. Here we have a watch that proves JLC could do avant garde too, as opposed to their current conservatism. This Étrier (French for stirrups) was the result of a long partnership with Hermès (famous for design inspiration from equestrian paraphernalia) and later dubbed “Lucchetto” (“lock”) by Italian collectors. There remains nothing else quite like it… unconventional with its exaggerated stylised lugs, 6 o’clock crown, curved profile and fusion of curvaceous and geometric lines. At once elegant and refined, as well as architectural and sculptural. A real time capsule from the brand’s storied past!
